Dental night guards for teeth protection

Get Relief with a Night Guard

Many people suffer from bruxism (teeth clenching or grinding) while they sleep, and sometimes even unconsciously during the day, too. This can cause a number of problems, including:

  • Sore jaw
  • Headaches
  • Tooth pain
  • Chipped or flattened teeth
  • Increased tooth sensitivity

The cause of bruxism isn’t completely understood by medical professionals, however there are a number of possible causes that could include abnormal alignment of upper/lower teeth, stress or anxiety, sleep apnea, or certain medications.

Why Would I Need a Night Guard?

When left untreated, bruxism can lead to more serious problems, including cracks in teeth, increased sensitivity, jaw problems, and even permanant damage that can be costly to fix.

Grandview Dental Care helps patients comfortably manage teeth grinding with professional, custom night guards.

How Does the Night Guard Process Work?

First we’ll take impressions of your teeth. This ensures the night guard is custom-fitted to your exact needs, and will therefore be as comfortable as possible.

Once the impressions are complete, we’ll have you come back in for a quick appointment to ensure the night guard fits perfectly, and make any small adjustments if necessary. It typically takes about two weeks for the impressions to come in.

Why Can’t I Use an Over the Counter Night Guard?

Over the counter night guards are fine for temporary usage; however having one professionally made will benefit you greatly. Since we take impressions, the night guard will fit your mouth perfectly—making it much more comfortable. Professionally-made night guards are also much more durable, so you won’t have to be replacing it every few months.
