What is involved in a comprehensive dental exam?
A comprehensive dental exam includes
- x-rays
- A tooth by tooth evaluation for cracks in teeth, cavities, proper bite alignment of teeth, and any malformations in the mouth
- An evaluation of your gums and the bone that surrounds your teeth for gum disease
- An examination of your cheeks, palate, throat, tongue, floor of your mouth, and your lips.
- The dentist will look for any problems that a patient may have including oral cancer, cysts, benign tumors, or oral signs of cancer in other parts of the body
- A comprehensive dental exam allows us to give you the Big Picture of what is going on with your dental health. You and the doctor can then decide how you want to procede.
