Tis the season for GivingDr. Abraham Hoellrich | December 24, 2012
Tis the season for gift giving! Although I absolutely agree with the concept that it is better to give than to receive (I can hardly wait until Christmas morning to see if my carefully selected gifts inspire my wife’s beautiful smile) I wanted to write today about being on the receiving end of some special gifts with a dental theme.
I wanted to share two of my favorite dental gifts I have received. The first was given to me by my aunt soon after my graduation from dental school. It seems that dentists are needed at the North Pole too! I have yet to see a candy cane striped tooth, but who knows?
The second gift is from my Mom. Mom was a kindergarten teacher and has always been a lover of children’s books. Over the years, she collected any books she came across that had a dental connection. She saved them up and gave them too me to someday use in my office. I had almost forgotten about them, but moving into our new office space sparked my memory. I searched amongst my collection of dental “stuff” (all dentists have this collection—you don’t want to look in our basement!!), found them, and placed them in our new reception room for the enjoyment of our youngest patients. Please take a look the next time you are in. Thanks Mom!
I will sign off by saying that best gifts I get each year are time with the people I care about. I especially enjoy parties and get-togethers during the holiday season to share fun and good times with family and friends. Dentally speaking, each year I receive the time and talents of the amazing Grandview Dental Care team. They are truly the gift that keeps on giving.
Happy Holidays! I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2013.
