Over the past several years, Columbus dentists have seen an increase of cavities due to a large consumption of sports drinks. We used to only worry about sodas but with high sugar energy and sports drinks on the market, the risk is getting higher.
Water and sugar free drinks between meals is the best defense. Cavities are caused by the frequency of exposure to sugar not the amount of sugar. So with every sip of the sugary drinks, you are bathing your teeth with sugar.
So grab your water bottles and enjoy the summer heat. Keep the other sugary drinks for meal times.
