How you can save money at the dentist

Grandview Heights, Ohio dentist talks about how to save money on your dental expenses

One question that we get asked often is “How can I save money on the cost of my dental visits?  Another frequently asked question is “I work for a small business that doesn’t offer dental benefits, which dental insurance should I chose? ”

The best dental insurance is doing 4 simple things…

  1. Brush your teeth for 2 minutes twice a day(at least twice a day. After meals would be an extra brushing bonus)
  2. Floss your teeth everyday
  3. Visit a dentist at least every 6-8 months for a checkup
  4. When a small problem is identified, take care of it sooner rather than later

Brushing and flossing you teeth are easy inexpensive things you can do for yourself.  Many people brush their for less than 30 seconds, don’t reach all areas of the mouth and haven’t flossed since it was hot and humid out.  And they avoid the dentist because it doesn’t hurt.

If there is something in your mouth that hurts, you’ve waited too long to see the dentist.  Seeing your favorite Grandview dentist on a regular basis allows him to have a chance to look in the dark places in your mouth that you can’t see by yourself.  He can help you keep you mouth healthy and pain free.

If your dentist happens to find a crack or decay it’s important for you to get it fixed right away because waiting will just make it bigger, not make it go away.  A small dental problem is much less expensive to fix than a larger dental problem that you have been ignoring.

So make a commitment today to brush for 2 minutes, twice a day,  floss everyday, and if it’s been a while make a dental appointment with your dentist.  You might even consider getting an electronic toothbrush with a built in 2-minute timer that will make brushing for the right amount of time, even easier.
