Cavities can form in your teeth for a variety of reasons and they best way to stay cavity free is to brush and floss your teeth everyday and visit your dentist 2 times per year for a profession dental cleaning and check-up.
If you have had a recent filling or dental crown to fix tooth decay you are at higher risk for more tooth decay to develop. Tooth decay frequently develops next to previous decay.
Brushing with fluoride toothpaste helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acids attacks from bacteria in your mouth. Flossing helps get rid of plaque between your teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach. Using a mouth rinse can also help prevent decay.
Frequent snacking on sweet or starchy foods continually feed the bacteria in your mouth which can lead to tooth decay. As a rule try not to snack all day or constantly drink beverages with a lot of sugar. It’s more about the frequency of the sugar and starch on your teeth than the quantity. If you have a sugary sweet or beverage once per day and then you brush your teeth you will be better off then if you constantly snack or sip.
