Patients typically see a 5- to 8-shade difference in 10 to 14 days if they whiten for 30 minutes to an hour a day.

How does tooth whitening work?

It’s important to understand that the effectiveness of any tooth whitening procedure depends on these three things:

• If the concentration of peroxide in the whitening solution is not strong enough, the results will be less than satisfactory. The concentration of peroxide solution the dentist gives you is greater than that found in over-the-counter products.
