Here’s what to expect during the comprehensive dental exam:

• An evaluation of each tooth to determine if there are any cracks or cavities, as well as a diagnosis of proper bite alignment and any malformations in the mouth
• An evaluation of your gums and the bone surrounding your teeth to determine if gum disease exists
• An examination of your cheeks, palate, throat, tongue, floor of your mouth and your lips
• An examination that looks for potential problems with oral cancer, cysts, benign tumors or oral signs of cancer in other parts of the body
