Last Thursday the entire staff at Grandview Dental Care (and their spouses) went to the Buckeye Grill at the Grandview Yard for our end of the year celebration. We had a good time and it was a nice way to end our 2011. And I must say that the Pretzel Bites were totally worth the calories! The Dental Nurse My name is Amanda; I am one of the Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary’s here at Grandview Dental Care. Have you ever wondered what that name means? I like to think of us as being the “Dental Nurse”. Where do you go to get this certification? If you are a Dental Assistant first you have to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). To do this you have to a certain amount of Dental Assisting hours or years of experience. In High School I knew what I wanted to be so I chose to take the Technical route and … Continue reading
Dr. Bill and his wife Becky just got back from a Biking Trip in the Canadian Rockies. They started in Banff and ended in Jasper riding over 200 miles over 5 days. Dr. Bill says biking is a great way to see the rugged beautiful mountains although meeting up with a black wolf or black bear is a little intimidating on a bike. To prepare for the trip there were a lot of Spinning classes involved as well as some cold weather biking gear shopping. Columbus was 90+ degrees while the Canadian Rockies had highs of mid 60s. I’m sure … Continue reading
When I graduated from high school, I still was not sure what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. So instead of thinking of a career, I chose to think about what type of lifestyle I wanted in the future. Three very clear choices came to mind. First, I knew I wanted to be a mother and get married someday. Secondly, in case I did not find Mr. Right, I wanted to be able to support myself financially. Lastly, I wanted to love going to work everyday. Where in the world would a career allow me to … Continue reading
Hi! My name is Shana and I am a dental hygienist here at Grandview Dental Care. I got my haircut last night and I’m donating the hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths which uses the hair to make wigs for Cancer Patients. I have been growing it out for 2 years and decided to donate it to Beautiful Lengths last summer. Each braid I donated is 10 inches long. The minimum length is 8 inches. It takes at least six 8-inch braids to make 1 wig. Pantene allows donations of color treated hair. Some other organizations don’t allow color treated hair. … Continue reading

The Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Education Foundation Gala was held on January 29, 2011 at The Ohio Union. Dr. Thompson and 4 staff members attended this year’s event and had a great time! You might not recognize us without scrubs and a mask on but everyone had fun dressing up for this worthwhile occasion. Kay even “won” a Vera Bradley purse in the Silent Auction! Checkout more pics on the Grandview Dental Care Facebook page!
Saturday was the annual Grandview Heights Pumpkin Run. The doctors and staff have volunteered at the water table for years. In addition, this year Shana and Becky decided to Dress up as Mrs. and Ms. Molar. It was suggested by their fan base that next year a giant tooth brush should chase the teeth. So far neither Dr. Bill or Dr. Abe have volunteered to be the tooth brush. Hmmm! The Molars ran the 5k race in 29:39.2! It was great weather and a fun community event. Enjoy the video!
We just got back from a 3 night staff retreat at the Old Man’s Cave Chalet. The entire staff and many of the staff spouses attended this relaxing and fun event. We had a rib cookoff on the first night and the competition was fierce! Al, Misty’s husband came in first and Kevin, Sarah’s husband came in a close second. Regardless of who won we had enough ribs to last the entire trip! It was a fun getaway to recharge with much time spent by the pool. The place was large enough to sleep 20+ people… and the office dog. We … Continue reading
Some of our staff members had an evening out at at The Candle Lab on Grandview Ave. We chose our candle scents, poured our candles, and then went to Third and Hollywood for some refreshments while the candles set up. The candle making was easy and so much fun and the “Wow! experience” was when our Candles were delivered to us at the restaurant. Candle scents chosen: Becky: Pinapple & Basil Shana: Blackberry & Tupelo Honey Kay: Olive Blossom & Awapuhi Misty: Lime & Verbena & Coconut The scents are real not artificial smelling and they smell wonderful while burning. A great place in … Continue reading
