Are your brushing techniques hurting your teeth?
DO YOU EXPERIENCE sudden, sharp pain sometimes when you drink a glass of ice water, eat ice cream, or sip hot coffee? You’re not alone. One in eight adults experiences tooth sensitivity—the kind of sensitivity that isn’t due to a problem such as a cavity. So what’s causing it? Surprisingly, one of the most common causes of tooth sensitivity is brushing with too much force. How Could Brushing Hurt? Over brushing is problematic because it wears down the protective layers of your tooth enamel. It can also push back your gums, exposing the dentin layer under the enamel even more. This dentin layer has microscopic tubes … Continue reading

Enjoying lunch at DK Diner!
One of my favorite shows to watch with my husband is Man Vs. Food. I saw an episode that had a baseball park that had a hamburger on a grilled glazed donut. My husband turned up his nose but I was intrigued. Recently one of my patients(Dana) had come in for a cleaning and I was asking how things were at his work place. I had mentioned that I have been in the Grandview area for 14 years but had never tried the DK Diner where he works. After a long discussion about how much I love donuts, he said … Continue reading
My New Favorite Product
We as Hygienists at Grandview Dental Care try to stay up all of the new dental products that hit the market for office use and for retail. Sometimes the amount of products is very overwhelming. Think before you drink!

Cavities are caused by the frequency of exposure to sugar not the amount of sugar. So with every sip of the … Continue reading

Why? you might ask…… We have found that most people come to see their dentist twice per year but don’t always see there primary physician for a physical annually. So we have started taking blood pressures as a courtesy screening to our patients. We also use this information as a baseline for treatment performed … Continue reading

Why do I have that gritty feeling on the back of my front teeth?
Question: Sometimes the back of my front teeth feel kind of “gritty” in between my dental cleanings. I brush, use mouth rinse, and floss regularly. Is there a cause or am I just not brushing well enough? Answer: The “gritty” feeling is the tiny pieces of tarter build-up. The lower front teeth are the most common spot for this to occur because there is a salivary gland that lays at the floor of your mouth. Your tongue pushes everything up against the back of your front teeth. Tartar Control toothpastes will help some but it is based on your individual … Continue reading
