What everyone should know about how teeth chip or break
As with everything you want to keep for a long time, teeth need to be taken care of. You need to brush and floss your teeth everyday at home and you need to see a dentist on a regular basis. I see patients all the time that have a cracked tooth, or part of their tooth has broken off. Many times I hear “Doc, I was taking a bite of bread and my tooth broke” or “I bit into a pretzel and that’s what broke my tooth”. Well, your teeth are strong. Many circumstances can cause a tooth to deteriorate and breakdown. Typically … Continue reading
Columbus Ohio July 4th Fireworks and Parade Schedules
Hooray for a holiday weekend! And we’re taking Friday off for the holiday and my wife and I are playing some golf with friends! Here is some information about community fireworks and parades happening this weekend. I will add more as we come across them this week. I plan on firing up the grill and trying out a new Rib recipe for the 4th festivities. As far as Red, White and Boom goes we typically hop on the motorcycle and head to the Cota Bus maintenance facility on McKinley Blvd about 9:40 armed with our “bag chairs” securely on the … Continue reading
If you need a pet specialist head straight to MedVet
As some of you may know we have a sweet 6 year old greyhound/black lab mix dog named Prada that spends most days upstairs at the office “working” at the feet of my wife Becky. She was not acting like her food loving, dog walk loving, curious self so Becky took her in to see the Vet which ended up with a trip to MedVet up in Worthington yesterday evening/night. We don’t know the cause but she has some internal bleeding around her heart and they were able to stabilize her last night. She will see the cardiac specialist this morning … Continue reading

Which type of dental patient are you?
Columbus Ohio Dentist With just over 30 years experience owning a private dental practice in Columbus Ohio area, I have seen a lot of patients. Although there are exceptions to every rule, here is my perspective on the types of dental patients. Take the poll and see where you fall with others. Old Faithful – These are the patients that come to see us on the recommended check-up schedule 2 or 3 times per year. If they have gum disease or decay they get it taken care of. They have healthy smiles because they take care of their smiles. Only when it hurts – … Continue reading
Small Space Gardening for Edibles
It’s that time of year again! It’s time to plant the vegetable garden. Since we are in the midst of landscaping our house we have planted a raised bed mostly with herbs and lettuces but my wife planted some Sugar Snap Peas and radishes and the squirrels didn’t get all of the seeds so we have some plants growing. We did a 1/2 plot in Wallace Gardens last year and found that it was too much work even if it was just down the street. We smile when we drive by the Gardens now… smile because we don’t have to go … Continue reading
Special Occasion Dog Food
We have been making homemade dog food for about a month now for a variety of reasons and now I think our dog, Prada, would revolt if we stopped. My wife and I like to cook and homemade dog food isn’t hard to make, mostly chopping up meat. We get our inspiration from the Healthy Dog Cookbook but have begun to improvise based on what we have on hand. The cookbook even includes portion sizes based on the weight of your dog. Here is Prada’s current favorite you might want to try it for a special occasion for you … Continue reading
Great sites for buying Wine on the Web
As some of you may know I enjoy trying new wines and also surfing the Internet for Information. My staff can attest that there are certain times throughout the year where there seems to be an abundance of wine cases being delivered to the office. (we are extra generous to the UPS guy and FedEx delivery people around the holidays) Although I support many of the local wine shops here in Grandview I also came across an article in the Wall Street Journal that highlighted some of the better places to research and buy wine on the Internet. For a extremely … Continue reading
Staff “treat yourself” economic stimulus was a success!
Well I had a great time in Steamboat and the Spring skiing was great! But now, on to more important topics. What did my staff members do with the $100 bills I gave them on Tuesday(see 4/7/09 blog post) before I left? Many of the staff members treated themselves to a fresh spring hair salon experience, while others got a pedicure with girlfriends, some bought new outfits and purses, and one even splurged on a pinky ring they had been looking at for a while. All in all it was a very fun treat for my staff and for me although women spend … Continue reading
Reward and show appreciation for those that help you succeed!
It’s something that we all know to do but sometimes we temporarily forget to show appreciation for those that we work with. It’s always a boost to morale when someone recognizes you for a job well done. On the eve of my annual ski trip to Steamboat Springs with my buddies I decided to have a little “treat yourself” economic stimulus of my own for my staff. They always work hard but March was a very busy month and everyone was ready for me to be out of the office for a few days because everyone needed a much deserved break. … Continue reading
