Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Education Foundation Gala this weekend

Columbus Dentist donates an iPod nano to the GHMC Education Foundation Silent Auction. This Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 6:30 PM is the 19th Annual GHMC Gala at the Blackwell. Each year Grandview Dental Care trys to find something dental related to donate that will bring in nice donation to support the event.   We have found that electronics, mixed with a few toothbrushes, seems to do the trick.  So, this year’s gift basket contains a silver iPod Nano, toothbrushes, a Got Floss? t-shirt and a few other dental homecare items. Drs attend Valentines Chocolate Party

Dr Bill and I attended a Death by Chocolate Party last night along with Dr. Hoellrich and his wife Melissa.  The party was hosted by fellow Columbus Dentist Dr. Stoner. The party was a great excuse to dress up fancy, eat chocolate, and have fun with other Columbus dentists.  You can see in the picture that I am holding on to a half eaten chocolate meringue “sandwich ” my personal favorite chocolate of the evening.  Today has been the “death by workout” in an attempt to work off some calories.

Top tip if you want to keep your teeth

I am continually surprised by people that don’t go to the dentist for 5+ years because they don’t have a dental benefit plan.  It’s like dental benefits  are the entry ticket to go to the dentist. The bottom line here is: things you plan on keeping for a lifetime you take care of.  You wouldn’t dream of neglecting your car’s oil changes for 5 years cause your car would be in really bad shape if you  did. The Doctor’s Shrimp and Grits

Both Dr. Thompson and Dr. Hoellrich enjoy cooking.  Which is a really great thing for their wives!  The current favorite cookbook at the office is Cooking for Two: 2009,The Year’s Best Recipes Cut Down to Size Last night, based on Dr. H’s recommendation on what recipe to start with, Dr. T made the Shrimp and Grits recipe.  It’s all made in one skillet which is really nice and although it may not have been perfectly healthy, it was delicious!… and for me it’s all about portion control.  Dr T. used about 12 ounces of shrimp and if a nice quality … Continue reading
