Dominic shadows Dr. Thompson

Dominic is Dr. Thompson’s nephew who is in 7th grade at Big Walnut Middle School.  Today was shadow day so Dominic came to see what a dentist does all day.  Dominic likes to practice basketball, play the “Skate” video game on Xbox 360, and listen to music from Disturbed, Blur, SlipKnot, and SoulFly. Dominic thought the coolest part of shadow day was watching Dr. Thompson “fix the metal rod in the patient’s gum”. (aka adjust a dental implant)  Dominic also took some photos around the office, chose the song and created the video at the top of the post. As Part … Continue reading

Great sites for buying Wine on the Web

As some of you may know I enjoy trying new wines and also surfing the Internet for Information.  My staff can attest that there are certain times throughout the year where there seems to be an abundance of wine cases being delivered to the office.  (we are extra generous to the UPS guy and FedEx delivery people around the holidays)  Although I support many of the local wine shops here in Grandview I also came across an article in the Wall Street Journal that highlighted some of the better places to research and buy wine on the Internet. For a extremely … Continue reading

Staff “treat yourself” economic stimulus was a success!

Well  I had a great time in Steamboat and the Spring skiing was great!  But now, on to more important topics.  What did my staff members do with the $100 bills I gave them on Tuesday(see 4/7/09 blog post) before I left? Many of the staff members treated themselves to a fresh spring hair salon experience, while others got a pedicure with girlfriends, some bought new outfits and purses, and one even splurged on a pinky ring they had been looking at for a while.  All in all it was a very fun treat for my staff and for me although women spend … Continue reading

What happens to a tooth that makes a root canal necessary?

What Makes a Root Canal Necessary? Regardless of the initial cause, the tooth pulp … Continue reading

American Girl Doll clothes and furniture….cheap!

Ok…. if I have your attention let me explain more about the Golden Hobby Shop in German Village, 630 S. 3rd Street.  It’s operated by the Columbus Recreation and Parks department as a non-profit consignment shop for senior citizens’ handcrafted items. Now, I have no need for American Girl stuff but I was there with several “mom authorities” and they have lots of cute outfits for more than 1/2 the price of the American Girl store and they also have wooden desks, tables, and beds upstairs for the dolls. They are having an American Girl Fashion show April 26th and May … Continue reading

Which Whitening Tooth Paste works the best?

None.  No matter what the marketing says, the so called whitening tooth pastes do not effectively whiten your teeth. Why Not?  Because your teeth get whiter based on how long the whitening active ingredient stays on your teeth.  How long is the whitening toothpaste on your teeth before you rinse it off? Maybe 2 minutes and that isn’t long enough for any whitening ingredient to whiten your teeth. Nowadays most toothpastes say they are whitening toothpastes but don’t think you teeth are going to get whiter using them.  Use them for the taste/flavor and the cavity fighting properties and speak to … Continue reading
